Sculpture Moulds and Reproductions

Course introduction

The Sculpture Moulds and Reproductions Vocational Training Course introduces students to the world of creating with plaster and other more modern materials such as silicone and synthetic resins. The centre offers training that will position you in the job market as an expert in sculptural, ornamental and decorative works through the use of moulds and reproductions, with the ability to select the most suitable materials according to the piece and the process that should be used in its manufacture and creation.

Syllabus

This course has a duration of 2,000 hours divided across two years. Both the final project and the internship in a company, studio or workshop are included in this duration.

Who is it aimed at

This course aims to train professionals to have a wide variety of technical, artistic and cultural knowledge so that they can perform their work and produce artworks in the craft, artistic or industrial fields in their own workshops, and it gives them the ability to control and organise the whole cultural process. It is aimed at anyone with an interest in sculpture, with manual and precision skills, artistic abilities and abstract reasoning, creativity and imagination.

Objectives

The Sculpture Moulds and Reproductions Course has the following key objectives:

  • Define the formal, functional, technical, material and aesthetic characteristics of a personal project or assignment.
  • Perform the quality control checks that correspond to each part of the production process.
  • Understand, select, prepare and use the most appropriate materials that meet the technical, formal, functional and aesthetic specifications of a project.
  • Estimate consumption, and calculate volumes and breakdowns for the best possible use of the material needed to construct the moulds and pieces.
  • Understand and apply different rigid mould construction systems.

Careers

Professionals at this level work in public, private, small, medium or large arts and craft companies and workshops that operate in the field of artistic casting and modelling. They may also work as independent professionals or as a member of a cooperative. The main jobs are: quality control manager in companies, designer of works for sculptural, ornamental and decorative use, creator of works for sculptural, ornamental and decorative use and technical assistant in the restoration of moulds and sculptural reproductions.
