Course introduction

Studying the arts Occupational Category of Sculpture at Dionisio Ortiz Art School provides students with high quality artistic training that helps them to value the importance of sculpture techniques as an artistic language and a means of cultural expression, as well as to develop their creative abilities.

Syllabus

This course has a duration of 2,000 hours divided across two years. This duration includes creating the final project and an internship in a company, studio or workshop.

Who it is aimed at

This course is aimed at training professionals in extensive technical, artistic and cultural knowledge to enable them to perform their work, producing artistic creations in their own workshop in the craft, arts or industrial fields, and giving them the ability to control and organise the whole cultural process. Professionals with wide, versatile training and a high level of technological and artistic skills who are qualified to envisage, interpret and execute projects in any sculptural technique (both traditional and modern) with the best prospects for an up-to-date mastery of specific skills that meet the needs of our time.

Objectives

To obtain the Advanced Certificate in Sculpture Techniques, students will need to achieve the following objectives:

  • Define the formal, functional, technical, material and aesthetic characteristics of a personal project or an assignment.
  • Make plans, sketches and drawings with colour techniques, and produce models and mock-ups.
  • Plan and carry out the process of creating sculptural works.
  • Understand, select, prepare and use the most appropriate materials that meet the technical, formal, functional and aesthetic specifications of a project.
  • Understand the technical specifications of the tools, equipment, implements and machinery under your responsibility.

Careers

Qualifying students principally work in the following roles: Supervisor in art production workshop creating ornamental, decorative and sculptural items, creator of sculptures that will be used as ornaments or decoration, designer of works that will be used as ornaments, decoration or sculptures and creator of sculptures that will be used to restore heritage.
